![]() ![]() I wouldn’t restore more than 500GB using download and much less on a slow hotel internet. You can download a forgotten spreadsheet or special photo while travelling. IDrive support has been better than Backblaze, but it did take a month for them to ship our first express backup disks.īoth iDrive and Backblaze make it easy (and free) to restore a few files or data using internet download. Early deletion policy: iDrive and Backblaze: None. API Transactions cost: iDrive & Wasabi: Free. This isn't perfect security, in that for restores or accessing online, you'd need to send some digital process that key. Doesn't use gigs and gigs of ram like shitty CrashPlan (who got rid of their home plans) Allows a client-side encryption key. Wasabi: Free up to 1X the total storage in a month. BackBlaze wins by a mile: Simple low-footprint client. We are doing our 10TB cloud backup using two 5TB iDrive plans. Egress cost and/or free limit: iDrive: Free up to 3X the total storage in a month. PCMag - Editor's Choice 7Īfter I’ve successfully used iDrive a couple months, I’ll post an update. PCMag - Editor's Choice 7IDrive® Backup 90% off. IDrive also makes it easier to share our photos and videos as we can share backed up folders with others (like we do with MS OneDrive, Google Drive or Amazon Photos).Īnd for the first year, iDrive has a fantastic special: 2TB / year for only $6.95! (not including express restores) Then iDrive (like Backblaze used to do, but hasn’t) should keep backing up only new and changed files (should be < 1TB month ☺). Instead of backing up our 9TB at 1.5TB/month for 6 months, we backup to a local disk (actually 2 in our case) and ship it to iDrive. I still think BackBlaze is a good choice if you only have a few TeraBytes (1,000 GB = 1 TB), say < 3 or 4TB. For years now I have recommended BackBlaze to family and friends, but this year it has failed us and we were forced to look for a different alternative. ![]()
